What was the weirdest/craziest/funniest dream you’ve ever had?
I personally love when this topic of conversation comes up, probably because I have SO many totally bizarre dreams that are so funny to share. But this is the one I remember most vividly: I was standing in the front of a gym that was filled with monkeys. Yes, monkeys. The room was packed wall-to-wall (-to-ceiling) with monkeys. I was standing on a podium at the front of the gym and trying to raise my voice over the chattering and screeching of the hundreds of crazed monkeys. I was, for some strange reason (or for no reason at all), teaching them how to do the chicken dance. “Okay, now, everyone. Flap your wings and wiggle your behinds!” I was demonstrating the moves as I spoke, but all the monkeys were climbing all over each other and screaming and basically not paying attention. At all. Just as I was beginning to get desperate, Tarzan swung in on a vine (out of nowhere), pounding his chest and hollering, and scooped me up and saved me. “Bye!” I shouted, waving at all the monkeys, who were staring up at me, silenced, perhaps wondering how the heck Tarzan got in there. Then my dream ended (perhaps before we slammed into a wall and died – ever notice how your dreams always seem to end right before something really bad happens?). Just in case you’re starting to think I’m a lunatic, let me remind you that I was asleep and my perfectly sane brain would not have been able to conjure THAT one up any other way. Now, I’m dying to know – what was the strangest dream you’ve ever had? Feel free to leave a comment below!
I know we haven’t done an STTA in a while, so here’s a question for you all.
What do you do when you’re really, REALLY bored?
I just thought I would ask because it’s funny to hear about all the weird things people do when they have absolutely no clue what to do. When I’m super bored, I usually park myself in front of my bookshelf in my room and pull out random books that catch my eye and flip through them. Sometimes I pick a book and read it cover to cover. Sometimes I just turn the book over and over, enjoying the weight of it in my hands, and quickly flip through the pages to catch a whiff of the musty book-smell that I love so much (I’ll admit it; I’m a book-smeller). Other times, when I’m bored, I find something in my room to organize (there’s usually something that could use a little cleaning up). Most of the time what eventually ends up happening is that I find myself mysteriously drawn to the computer or some other electronic device, where I fruitlessly and aimlessly surf the Web for hours on end. (Google is horribly addictive. It has the potential to be life-consuming.) And now, I need to know — what do you do when you’ve got nothing to do?
Whew, I know it’s been forever! I have been SO overwhelmed with exams and end-of-year events and auditions and appointments that, honestly, I haven’t even thought about this blog for a month! Well, I’m back (though not for long — our family will be leaving on a month-long vacation out of the country in July, so the flow of posting will be again interrupted for a little while). I have a few great posts in store, but I’d like to start with today’s long-overdue STTA:
What is one thing that makes you think “summer?”
Okay. So many things, but the first one for me would be the smack-smack sound of walking in flip-flops. There is just nothing that says “summer” more than that. Others would be the smell of chlorine and sunscreen, and eating juicy watermelon. Oh, yes. I’m getting excited just thinking about summer on the way! How many of you are on your break already? And how many are still in school? (Like me, UGH — but only for a week more! Hurray!) What are your plans for the summer? 🙂
Once again, I apologize for the severe lack of posts in the past few weeks. This time of year has been INSANE. In any case, it is unbelievably fabulous to just sit down with you all and type out my thoughts. I thought I’d throw out another STTA for you all to ponder.
What is your favorite way to unwind on a free Saturday evening?
As we are now in the middle of the harsh winter months, I have been finding that I am constantly chilled to the very core no matter how many sweaters I put on, and the single cure for that is a steamy bubble bath — with, of course, the radio blasting and a magazine to read. I also find it very refreshing and relaxing to bundle up and go for a walk outside. The chilly winter air invigorates me and allows me to breathe, all my worries lifted off my shoulders and carried away on the wind. (Or, being the total dork I am, dancing around my room and singing along to The Sound of Music at the top of my lungs works too. 😉 ) What do you do to relax and unwind?
First of all, sorry it’s been so long! Just a reminder – I am SUPER busy during the school week, and the past few weeks have been crammed with midterms, projects, events, and all kinds of other craziness. But I’m really glad to be back, and I have a couple of really neat posts coming up soon that I hope you’ll like!
So, here is the STTA for today: If you were a dessert, what would you be?
Mmm, dessert! My favorite meal of the day… I am absolutely in love with anything and everything chocolate. That being said, if I were a dessert, I would be a sugar cookie with gobs of chocolate frosting and rainbow sprinkles on top! I’m simple and unfussy, but frosted with a layer of sugary sweetness, sprinkled with colorful fun! How does that sound? Yummy, right? 😉 (Hmm…if I were a cookie, I think I would eat myself. Hardee-har-har!) So, what about you all? Do I have any brownies out there? Jelly doughnuts? Snickers bars? (Sorry if I’m making you hungry!)
Please feel free to share!
What are some goals you have for the New Year?
To clear it up, this could be anything. It could be to earn better grades, to eat healthier, or to work on being kinder to a sibling. (These goals are also called resolutions.) This year, in 2013, I am going to try my hardest to be the best friend I can be. That means keeping secrets, remembering birthdays, and always making time for my girlfriends when they need me. I’m also going to try to get back on track with my running to train for a possible half-marathon in June, and to make time to read the Bible and talk to God every day. (Another goal I have is to stick to my goals throughout the entire year!) So, what about you? What are you going to try to accomplish in 2013?
What signs remind you of the beauty of the world?
At this time of year, it is especially easy to find little glimpses of the beauty of God’s world all around us, as twinkling lights and glittering decorations are up everywhere and people are practicing simple acts of kindness for one another that they save especially for this time of year and spreading good Christmas cheer all around. As for me, I got to witness the beauty of the world when I woke up yesterday morning and saw snow outside my window. The world outside, coated in a soft white blanket of snow, made me feel at once awed and amazed at the grace and splendor of God’s creation. (You can imagine my excitement about this, as last year we had no snow at all the whole winter long. White Christmases are great, but White Day-After-Christmases are even better!) So, I want to know, have you seen any signs lately that have made you stop and think, “Wow! What a wonderful world we live in!” (And please feel free to share them!)
